Festival of Speed

Festival of Speed (8-25 June)

Poker is no longer about grinding away for hours with the intention of securing a few big blinds’ worth of profit. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with such an approach, but most people have a limited window in which to enjoy time at our poker tables, which is why the emphasis nowadays is increasingly on having a good time. Poker is entertainment, after all.

With this in mind, our Festival of Speed, which will run between 8-25 June, is sure to set the pulses racing because it’s all about speed. Time – more specifically, what we can achieve in a limited amount of time – is a key factor of modern-day online poker. It’s always interesting to see how differently we perform when this particular element is tweaked – can we make the same, tactically sound decision whether we have a minute or seconds in which to think? Do we become so impatient while waiting around to get involved in a hand that, as soon as we fold, we’re so eager to taste the action that we find ourselves committing chips with mediocre cards?

The Festival of Speed covers both these subjects, in fact. First, we have a Super Turbo Multi-Table Tournament Series – a juicy 39 very bankroll-friendly events where speed is of the essence and the more you can put yourself nicely ‘in the zone’ while those around you struggle, the better chance you have of helping yourself to a share of the €50,000 in guaranteed prize money on offer in the series.

We’ll also be rolling out a 32Red favourite in the form of Blazing Cannon. For those who have not yet had a go at this dinky game, it runs alongside our speedy Blaze Poker format, which is designed to do away with waiting around twiddling our proverbial thumbs by transporting players automatically to a new table and a new hand immediately after each hand ends. No delays, no hanging about for a hand to finish, but straight back into the action. Then, when you’ve won/shared a pot in 20 raked hands you’re brought to the Blazing Cannon video game, the task being to knock down a stack of cards with a burning chip fired from a cannon, with a chance of winning €1, €10 or even €100 in cash. Poker is never boring at 32Red!

The third part of the festival is Added Money Turbo SNGs. Quite simply, SNGs with buy-ins ranging from €1 to €20 will have money added to the prize pool, so it’s just a matter of heading to the Sit & Go section of the Poker Lobby and keeping your eyes peeled for the specials.

And, finally, don’t forget to make the most of the Bonus Promotion: Fire the Blazing Cannon twice, play 10 Festival of Speed events and play 15 Festival of Speed SNGs and you’ll earn exclusive entry to the €5,000 Festival Flash Freeroll (2 July).

So there you have it… poker goodies coming at you from all directions between June 8-25. Enjoy.

Fish Party: €10K in Added Money Tournaments

By now you should all be aware of the attractions of Fish Party poker at 32Red, namely 3-player progressive jackpot Sit & Go tournaments that can pay out thousands of times the buy-in. And you can sit down at these fun-filled games for as little as €1!

Of course, that’s already enough incentive to click the Sit & Go tab in the Poker Lobby and find the Fish Party section, but this month we’re rewarding players for enjoying themselves at the Fish Party tables by having three Added Money Flash tournaments to the tune of €10,000!

Flash tournaments are characterized by having 300 starting chips and 2-minute blind levels, thus producing exciting poker right from the off. There will be three Flash events, each requiring very doable milestones that can be achieved by simply playing Fish Party games.

To get your ticket for the €1,000 Added Fish Party Flash (20 March), the requirement is to play just 20 x €1 Fish Parties between 10-19 March. The other two Flash events are €3,000 and €6,000 Added respectively and have similar tasks, while it’s possible to bag tickets for all three in one fell swoop by winning 30 Fish Party tournaments of ANY buy-in!

32Red regular wins Fish Party Jackpot

March 6, 2017 by

The Sit & Go format has been popular since the beginning of the online poker boom for more than one reason. A key attraction is that players can enjoy the atmosphere of a tournament in a matter of minutes, while being up against a limited number of opponents also increases the likelihood of winning a prize.

The word ‘prize’ has taken on considerably more significance now that players are enjoying the fast-paced, three-player Fish Party Sit & Go tournaments because, thanks to the set-up revolving around progressive jackpots, the prizes at stake could be literally tens of thousands the size of the buy-in.

This happened yesterday when, while the players of a €5 tournament watched the mini Fish Party slot feature determine how much they were playing for, the amount the reels produced was a staggering €128,126!

Most of the time there’s one prize, which starts off at twice the buy-in, but with such an enormous jackpot all three players are guaranteed a chunk of the cash. As it turned out it was a 32Red Poker regular, Ronald A (aka fini00) who beat his two rivals to take the lion’s share – €64,063 to be precise. Not that the others will have been complaining to earn €38,437 and €25,625 respectively for their initial €5 buy-in…

Here’s what Ronald had to say…“Ever since the €1 Fish Party jackpot had been hit I started playing the €5 Fish Party tournaments a lot more when I could. I would play up to 8 tables at a time but I found that I couldn’t play any other tournaments because of how quick they go, and a €5 loss here and there can add up when you have a small bankroll as I did. Less than two weeks ago the €10 Fish Party Jackpot hit, and it was just a matter of time before somebody would hit the €5 jackpot.

On March 5th I played as usual. I was concentrating more on my multi-table tournaments rather than the Sit & Gos when out of the corner of my eye I saw the first fish party symbol pop up. I jumped out of my chair because I knew that the prize is determined based on the first symbol. My sound was off on my laptop so I don’t know what new sound I would hear. My heart started racing. I only dreamt about having a chance to play for the jackpot and with my luck over the past few months, I never thought that it would happen to me.

I ended up sitting out on all the other tables because a mis-click here would be devastating. I had to close the chat because I tried to type and play at the same time. Bad idea. I was nervous until I lost with AK to some hand that I don’t remember. I was down to 170 in chips. I was able to double up a few hands later and then put my tournament on the line with KQ all-in pre-flop against AJ. I had even more luck on my side and I survived. From then on I think I played as well as I could. I had over a 2 to 1 chip lead and was faced with a call this time with KQ. Blinds were high at this time and it seemed like my opponent was getting restless. I called, and he/she showed Q4 or K4 unsuited I believe. My hand held and I won. I checked my account a few times to make sure it was real. It’s hard to describe the feeling.”

Following on from another recent hit, when a €10 game paid out a whopping total of €207,438 (with the winner receiving €103,719), this is sure to attract even more players to what has already established itself as a fun way to spend a poker session.

Fish Party: Massive Jackpot Hit!

March 2, 2017 by

It’s no surprise that Fish Party tournaments have become a popular choice for poker fans because – apart from being fast and furious fun – the potential payouts for very modest buy-ins can be massive. Fish Party Sit & Go tournaments have only three players and, despite the buy-ins ranging from only €1 to €50, the prizes can be thousands of times the buy-in – for example, a €1 tournament can have a €6,000 prize pool!

The prize for the winner is measured in multiples of the buy-in, randomly selected in the form of a Fish Party slot once the players have registered. And as the buy-ins increase, the rewards can be life-changing, as was the case this week when the Jackpot was hit in a €10 game…

Christmas came early and several times over when the nose-bleed sum of €207,438 was paid out to the players. The winner received €103,719, with €62,231 and €41,487 being paid out to 2nd and 3rd respectively – far, far more than anyone would have been expecting from their €10 investment.

Meanwhile, similarly huge prizes are waiting to be won at the Fish Party tables, so have fun along the way to winning big…

Fish Party Changes

December 1, 2016 by

Even the wheel probably needed a bit of tweaking when some smarty pants first discovered how to get stuff from A to B by rolling it along on a couple of round things.

Such is the case with the introduction a few months ago of our popular Fish Party Sit & Go tournaments, the fun-filled, breakneck speed 3-player No Limit Hold’em tournaments that suit all bankrolls and promise enormous jackpots, with payouts that can be thousands of times the buy-in!

We want to make them as player-friendly as possible while keeping prize pools suitably nosebleed high and, with this in mind, as of December 14th we’ll be reducing the effective rake by almost half – from the current 10.17% to 5.85%.

We hope this will keep the Fish Party experience a fun and, of course, profitable one, and that you make the most of the amendments to the prize structure, too. One advantage that is bound to prove very popular and be particularly noticeable is that the next jump up in the prize pool from 2 x the buy-in will be a new 4x multiplier. This will replace the current 3x multiplier and mean that you’ll be fighting for prize pools that are higher than total buy-ins considerably more often than before!

As with all our games, we constantly keep an eye on how players are doing and what is the best way to maximize value and other important factors with a view to providing the best playing experience possible for as many players as possible. Have fun at the Fish Party and, remember – don’t be the fish!

€50,000 Sit & Go Booty

While it’s true that poker offers something for everyone, from low stakes recreational players to those seeking high-octane brinkmanship, one particular format is especially popular at all levels because it ticks numerous boxes – namely the ever-entertaining Sit & Go.

With only a handful of players – even heads up – a typical Sit & Go tournament takes just a fraction of the time of a standard multi-table event yet promises the same kind of thrills and spills. Add to that the more generous ratio of prizes in relation to players, and it’s easy to see why S&G is such a popular choice for poker fans.

With this in mind we expect April to be a Sit & Go frenzy thanks to our €50,000 Sit & Go Booty promotion! We are adding money – a massive €40,000, in fact – to the prize funds of tournaments (including Heads Up) with buy-ins from €2 to €25, and there’s also a €10,000 leader board to get involved in.

€10,000 Leader board (Sit & Go Booty)

€10,000 Leader board (Sit & Go Booty)

There are 450 leader board prizes, with €1,000 for the top player, and to battle your way up the standings through the month you simply earn points by cashing in the special Sit & Go Booty tourneys. For example, if you cash in a €10 regular added money SNG you receive 10 points, while a cash in a €10 Heads Up added money SNG earns 5 points. Simple.

Make the most of our Added Money SNGs, and here’s hoping you win your share of the booty!

Sit & Go Strategy: Changing Gears – Be the Bully

While even one-table Sit & Go tournaments have a multi-table flavour, a key difference is that we’re effectively being fast-forwarded straight into final table mode as soon as we sit down. Thanks to the more rapidly increasing blind levels than we experience during the much, much longer course of a MTT, much of the strategy specific to S&G poker is related to both the blinds and the limited number of prizes. No Limit Poker: Heads Up Fun

October 14, 2014 by
Filed under Angus Dunnington, News, Poker School

Poker, of course, is a rich, complex game that comes in many guises and formats. We all have a particular favourite ‘perfect’ poker game which, ideally, we both feel comfortable with and can achieve a level of success from. The potential problem with this, like all manner of favourite things, is that not only could we be missing out on something equally rewarding, but sticking with the same recipe week in, week out also runs the risk of restricting our growth and consequently stifling our game.

A fun, action-packed, psychologically demanding NL poker variant is the adventure known as heads up play. Stripping down poker to 1 v 1 leads to obvious comparisons with chess, where strategy and the need for ceaseless mental agility are paramount. These factors are no less important in poker, which also has more by the way of bluff and brinkmanship than chess.

For those who have not tried heads up there are two quite different types, namely the Sit & Go  (SnG) and cash. These are clearly two independent animals, the former featuring blind levels that increase over time (with a frequency depending on structure), while cash games continue ad infinitum with the same blinds. Consequently the two formats share some skills but not others. A SnG typically starts the protagonists without too much of a healthy stack/blinds ratio which, in turn, makes for a more urgent approach than we might be used to. Moreover, before we know it, the tension increases along with the blinds, and we soon find ourselves making more critical decisions, hands being characterised by their not exactly having a great deal of play. Pre-flop all-ins become a key part of the game, as is stealing and re-stealing and so on.

Moving on to heads up cash poker, the constant cadence of the game provided by the almost reassuring fixed blinds affords players the opportunity to experience the most that their stack can offer. If deep-stacked play is your thing you could do worse than use heads up cash as a fascinating training ground.

Check out both heads up SnG and cash in the poker lobby, and have fun as you broaden your poker horizons.

Good luck at the tables!
