F
Family Pot
A pot in which all (or almost all) of the players call before the flop.
Fifth Street
In flop poker games, Fift Street is the fifth Community Card dealt by the dealer.
Fish
A slang term for a player who is seen as weak or not as expert as the other players at the table, often losing more money than anyone else. The saying goes that when you are playing at a table and cannot spot the fish amongst your opponents, then the fish is you!
Fish Hooks
Poker slang for the Jack
Flat Call
To place a bet into the Pot without raising.
Flop
The first three cards of the Community Cards dealt face up by the dealer into the centre of the table.
Fold
This is when a player discards their hand as they consider the chances of winnings very small.
Forced Bet
A bet a player is required to make in order to start playing a round of poker, e.g. a small or big blind.
Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same denomination, e.g. four Kings.
Fourth Street
The fourth Community Card to be dealt by the dealer.
Flush
A hand made up of five cards of the same suit.
Flush Draw
This refers to a player having four cards in their hand all of the same suit. The players is now hoping for a fifth card of the suit to be drawn to make the Flush.
Freeroll

Freeze Out
Freeze Outs are poker games and tournaments where palyers are allotted a set amount of chips at the start of the games and re-buys or add-ons are not permitted.
Full House
Having a hand consisting of Three of a Kind and a Pair.

Gut Shot
The middle card required for a Straight.

Hand
A poker player's best five cards
Heads Up
A game between two players. At the 32Red Online POker Room, you can playe one-to-one games at tables with only 2 seats. Heads Up also refers to the climax of a tournament when just two players remain.
High Low
A poker game in which the highest and lowest hands share the pot. You can play Omaha Hi Lo at 32Red Poker.
Hit
If you "hit", the card you are after is dealt by the dealer
Hit and Run
This refers to a player at the table for only a few hands, most of which they win, and then leaving the table in a winnigs position, usually after scooping a big pot.
Hole Cards
The first two cards dealt to you in Texas Hold'em. These cards are dealt face down and are also known as Pocket Cards.
Hold'em
Full name is Texas Hold'em Poker and is a game in which you use the 5 Community Cards dealt by the dealer, along with your 2 Pocket Cards to form the best five card hand. Click here for how to play Texas Hold'em Poker at 32Red Poker Room.
Hooks
Poker slang terms for a pair of Jacks as Hole Cards (the J's being the hooks!).
House
The House is the casino or card room facilitating poker.
I
Implied Odds
This is the amount of money you would expect to win if you manage to make your desired hand, compared to the cost of continuing to play.
Initial Deal
This first set of cards dealt to players before they have to make a decision.
Inside Straight
4 cards in your hand requiring another card in the middle to make a straight.
J
Jacks or Better

K
Key Card
This is the card you need to make your hand.
Key Hand
Refers to the one hand that proves the turning point in a game of poker.
Kicker
The Kicker is the card that goes with a Pair or Two Pair. It can often make the difference between winnings and losing as a Pair of Aces with a King Kicker beats a Pair of Aces with a Queen Kicker. THe highest side card used to determine the winner of the pot would also be called Top Kicker.
Kojak
Describes a player's hole cards being King-Jack.
Knave
More commonly referred to as a Jack.
L
Late Position
The late positions in a ten-handed game are the last three players to act on their hands.
Lay Down
To reveal your hand in a showdown.
Lay Down Your Hand
To fold, usually referring to folding a good-looking hand in the face of what is likely a very strong hand.
Lead
The first to play after the blinds.
Limit Poker
Limit Poker is a game with set maximum and minimum bet sizes.
Limp In
When a player is said to limp in, they are calling a bet rather than raising.
Live Card
A card that has not yet been dealt or seen therefore still in play.
Loose
Bother players and tables/games can be said to be loose. it's the opposite to a tight-aggressive strategy, and means that too many hands are being played.
M
Main Pot
When a player goes all-in, that player is only eligble to win the pot which consists of matched bets to that player's stake. This is the main pot. If betting continues after tha player has gone all-in, then side pots develop and are contested by the remaining players.
Make a Move
To make a move is to attempt a Bluff.
Maniac
A very aggressive player making bets that a tight-aggressive player would not play.
Middle Pair
This refers to pairing a card dealt on the Flop whose value is in between the other two cards.
Monster
A very, very strong hand which is extremely likely to win.
Move In
To put all your chips into the Pot, the same as going all-in.
Muck
This refers to your cards being discarded without anyone seeing them. It usually suits to muck you cards if you win as it will keep your opponents guessing as to whether you are bluffing or not.
N
No Limit Poker
No Limit Poker games at 32Red Poker are where players can bet as much as they have in chips, at any point.
Nut Flush
The best available Flush.
Nuts
A common poker expression for the best possible hand give the cards dealt to the players and the table so far. The nuts is a hand that cannot be beaten and should be played accordingly.
O
Off Suit
Describes a player's hole cards when they are not suited.
Omaha
Omaha Poker is similar to Texas Hold'em and is a flop games. The differences are that players are dealt 4 instead of 2 cards and your hand has to be made up by using exactly 2 pocket cards and three from the table.
On the Come
To bet on the come means to place a bet with a potential hand instead of a complete hand, e.g. a player might bet on the come if he was drawing one card to a straight flush.
On Tilt
Playing on tilt is often due to losing a hand which you felt you should have won, and then playing poorly tanks to your emotions. Not recommended!
Open Ended
An open-ended straight is having four consecutive cards requiring one at either end to make up the Straight.
Out
An out describes a card, or cards, left in the deck which would improve your hand. Expert poker players are always calculating the number of outs they have in a hand.
Over Bet
A bet that is much biffer than the size of a pot in a No Limit games.
Over Card
In a flop game, this refers to the highest card on the Board, in Stud Poker it is a card higher than your opponent's probable pair.
Over Pair
A pair of cards higher than any card amongst the Community Cards.
Over the Top
Re-raising in the face of a large bet from your opponent.
